Accessibility

Heapso should work for every teacher, whatever device, settings or assistive technology they use.

Last updated 15 October 2026

Our goal

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA across Heapso. We haven't been independently audited, so we don't claim to meet it yet.

How we build Heapso

What we do today:

  • We build for keyboard use with visible focus. Our public pages have a skip-to-content link.
  • We label form fields and use polite screen-reader announcements for live updates such as "Pip is thinking…".
  • We choose colours to meet AA contrast and try not to use colour alone to carry meaning.
  • Pages are built to reflow down to phone width.
  • Live quiz and badge animations stay still if you've turned on reduced motion.
  • Lesson plans include accessibility and differentiation suggestions (UDL), and slide decks have speaker notes and image attribution.
  • Word exports use real headings and lists so screen readers can navigate them.

Known gaps

  • AI-generated images don't get automatic alt text. Please add a description before sharing a deck.
  • Some third-party content, such as embedded YouTube videos, may not meet the same standard.
  • Heapso hasn't had an independent accessibility audit.
  • Some smaller animations inside the app don't respond to the reduced-motion setting.

Tell us about a barrier

If something in Heapso is hard to use, please email hello@heapso.com with the page and what happened. We treat accessibility bugs as a priority.
